FOR many years, the TVB Anniversary Awards – which honours the best in Hong Kong entertainment – has been a talking point among TV viewers.
But who will win at the 2010 StarHub TVB awards?
The response for the public nomination phase has been overwhelming and the Top 10 nominees for each award category have emerged.
Now viewers can vote to show their support for their favourite actors.
There are nine awards to be given out – My Favourite TVB Actress, My Favourite TVB Actor, My Favourite TVB Female TV Character 2009, My Favourite TVB Male TV Character 2009, My Favourite TVB Drama 2009, My Favourite TVB Variety 2009, My All Time Favourite TVB Female TV Character, My All Time Favourite TVB Male TV Character and My All Time Favourite TVB Drama.
We highlight the front-runners in the My Favourite TVB Actor and Actress categories.
My Favourite TVB Actress
In this category’s nomination list are Hong Kong stars Tavia Yeung and Charmaine Sheh, who are the hot favourites.
This comes after their strong showing at the recent TVB 42nd Anniversary Awards 2009.
Tavia won the Best Performance and Favourite Female Character awards for playing Yiu Gam Ling in Beyond The Realm Of Conscience.
Charmaine swept the honours for You’re Hired and Beyond The Realm Of Conscience.
Both were also in the Top 5 for the Best Actress category which Sheren Tang eventually won for Rosy Business.
The other nominees are Louise Lee, Michelle Yim, Susanna Kwan, Jessica Hsuan, Linda Chung, Myolie Wu, Liza Wang and Sheren Tang.
My Favourite TVB Actor
The nominees for this category are predominantly made up of actors who have proven their acting chops.
Their TV offerings for the past year have shown that they have maintained an impressive standard in comparison with their peers.
Those to watch are Hong Kong actors Moses Chan, Bowie Lam, Roger Kwok, Michael Miu, Kevin Cheng and Michael Tse.
In terms of popularity, Michael Tse leads the pack for his role as gangster Laughing Gor.
Not to be underestimated is Raymond Lam, who has hordes of fans.
Although he acted in only one drama last year, Moonlight Resonance, his role as Gam Wing Ho still resonates deeply in viewers’ hearts.
The other nominees are Steven Ma, Ron Ng and Bosco Wong.
