Stars glam up the red carpet… or not

Kristen Stewart wasn’t the only actress to watch at the New Moon premiere in Los Angeles.

The Twilight sequel’s other female stars – well, most of them anyway – managed to upstage the Oscar de la Renta-outfitted leading lady by killing it on the red carpet.

From the Cullen chicks to a Volturi vixen, vampiresses really do rule the night.

1 W-O-W. Ashley Greene looked incredible from head to toe.

The 22-year-old personified a ’60s screen goddess in a smouldering yet elegant scarlet Prabal Gurung high-neck gown with cut-out shoulders, draped back and mini-train.

This red-hot show-stopper definitely stood out amid a sea of short hemlines and muted colours.

As fan favourite Alice – cutesy foster sister to undead heart-throb Edward and best pal to his human girlfriend Bella – we’re used to seeing Greene sporting a trendy pixie cut in the movie. But we’re loving these long hair extensions even more.

Hands down the belle of the ball.

2 Who knew the snaggle-toothed, scrawny kid from Uptown Girls and War Of The Worlds could grow up into such a chic beauty?

Dakota Fanning, 15, gets a gold star for appearing graceful beyond her years – yet so very adorable – in this flirty black lacy strapless cocktail dress from Valentino and clunky blood-red satin D&G platform pumps.

She also goes to the dark side in New Moon as Jane, a sinister member of ancient vampire coven, the Volturi.

3 Not to be outdone by the young ‘uns is Mama Esme Cullen aka Elizabeth Reaser.

The 34-year-old sexes it up and rocks a simple, skin-tight white Herve Leger bandage dress with a plunging neckline.

Tight can be right, but I’m not over the moon about her uninspired black peep-toes.

4 Where’s the vampy glamour in Nikki Reed’s belted silk-satin bubble frock from Burberry? It’s too safe for such a high-profile event – especially when everyone else was pushing the style envelope.

Not even Reed’s towering two-tone Christian Louboutin strappy heels could get me excited.

Her on-screen alter ego Rosalie – Edward’s other (nasty) foster sister – is supposed to possess unparalled beauty, yet her character is overshadowed by her more charismatic co-stars. Reed, 21, is left languishing in the background again.
