SINGAPORE : It was a celebration of dreams at Suria’s annual awards show Pesta Perdana, which commemorated its 10th anniversary on Friday evening at the MediaCorp TV Theatre.
With its theme of “Dreams Do Come True,” the show acknowledged and honoured the best of Singapore’s Malay television industry.
A total of 25 awards were given out, including Best Lead Actor to Hasnul Rahmat for Cinta Hati, Best Lead Actress to Rahimah Yusof for Projek Cerpen – Natasha Arina, and Best Newcomer to Hasif Md Nasir for 1988 … Segaris Sinar. Anugerah Band 2008 took Best Variety Series while 1988 … Segaris Sinar was named Best Drama Series.
In categories decided by public votes, Suhaimi Yusof – who also clinched the Best Host award – was declared the Most Popular Male Personality, and Wahyu Rahman was named Most Popular Female Personality.
In addition, a Lifetime TV Achievement Award was given to Kartina Dahari, the queen of keronchong and the first Malay artiste to record an English album.
The red carpet event was graced by President S R Nathan and hosted by Aaron Aziz. -
